Online Caribbean Stud Poker Guide, Tips and Reviews
Caribbean Stud Poker is a variation of
poker which has been popular on cruise
ships for years in the Caribbean area. Nowadays the
game is taking over the rest
of the world, including the internet. Main reason for this is that this
table
game offers the excitement of poker and next to this a chance of a
progressive
jackpot. (Progressive in this case means the constantly growing of the payout
money for the player that bet in the
jackpot game.) Also a fun part of
Caribbean
stud poker is that you as player are
playing against the bank instead of
playing
against other players. So whether you are sitting with very experienced
players
or are surrounded by new players, your win chance remains the same.
So each
player plays against the croupier, which uses a deck of
52 cards
which he holds in his hand. On the table the players have 2 boxes in front of
them, one box for the ante and one box for the
bet. Before they are dealt
cards,
the players place their
antes in the ante box in front of them, announced by the
words ‘Place your antes please’. The
player has to sit at the table and may only
play on one box. When the
bets are placed, the
croupier will say ‘no more
antes, thank you’. After this announcement no more
wagers may be made and each
player receives 5 faced down
cards. The bank also receives 5
cards with the last
card turned face up. The
players then have 2 options. The first option is to
pass and put away their cards face down without showing them to other
players
and loses their antes. The second option is to stay in the
game, if they decide
to do so they must put twice the ante value in the
bet box.
When the players have decided whether they want to
play on or pass and the
croupier has taken away the
cards and bets from the other
players, he turns his
remaining 4 cards face up to see if he has
Ace-King or better. If he does not,
he will announce ‘No hand’ and pay out all the
bets that stayed on the
ante with
1:1. If the croupier is qualified (having
ace-king or higher) he will move his
best combination forward and compare these with the chosen combination of each
player. The
player only shows his used
cards and the rest are taken away. The
one with the highest Poker hand wins.
